The kora has a gentle, flowing sound that carries you into calm: bright, bell‑like notes over warm, rounded low tones, with soft buzzing textures and repeating melodic patterns that create steady, hypnotic grooves. Played with both hands across 21 strings, it layers simple melodies and rhythms so the music feels like a steady wave—inviting breath, ease and meditation.
Guiding the journey is Malian kora player Djelifily Sako. From a griot family tradition, he studied with Sidiki Diabaté and Toumani Diabaté, and now lives in Berlin. For decades he’s mixed traditional West African pieces with light jazz influences and modern rhythms, offering clear, heartfelt music that supports dancing, relaxation, and connection.
